Chilean Shell Necklaces

Chile has five thousand kilometers of coast towards the Pacific Ocean, so it would make sense that sea shells are in abundance in that area. For centuries the Chilean people have been inspired by these shells to create beautiful jewelry.

Last week our Powell Branch Library patrons had an opportunity to create some of their own Chilean-inspired shell necklaces.

Take a look through the photos below to see the process and some of their creations.

Also, don't forget to stop by the Delaware Main Library this Friday to meet our featured DelawaREADS author, Cristina Henríquez! She'll be speaking at 7 p.m.
